Change of STEM Employer

STEM OPT students must report to ISS when ending employment with one company and adding employment with a different company.

Due Date: Within 10 days of the STEM employer change

Upon approval, ISS will issue an updated I-20.

Instructions to report end of employment

1. Log in to your International Students & Scholars (ISS) Portal using the link below.
2. Navigate to  (2) Personal & Program and confirm that your U.S. physical address is current.
   • If your address is not up to date, update your  SEVIS Domestic Address in your CSUF Portal.
3. Navigate to (3) Requests & Documents and open the Practical Training (OPT or STEM-OPT) Employer Update.
   • Select the STEM OPT Employment Period
   • Click the Employer that you are modifying
   • Update the Requested End Date with the final date of employment with the listed employer
   • Answer the question, How is your employment related to your course work?
   • Upload page 5 of the I-983 (refer to the guide to complete the evaluation)
   • Submit the form

1. Log in to your International Students & Scholars (ISS) Portal using the link below.
2. Navigate to (2) Personal & Program and confirm that your U.S. physical address is current.
   • If your address is not up to date, update your SEVIS Domestic Address in your CSUF Portal.
3. Navigate to (3) Requests & Documents and open the Practical Training (OPT or STEM-OPT) Employer Update.
   • Select the STEM OPT Employment Period
   • Click the Orange Plus icon
   • Answer all of the fields (refer to the I-983 when providing responses)
   • Answer the question, How is your employment related to your course work?
   • Upload pages 1-4 of the I-983 ( refer to the guide to complete the I-983 )
   • Submit the form
