Program Toolkit

Do you have an exciting idea for an in-person or virtual global program (study, research, service learning, or field work)?  Study Abroad and Global Engagement (SAGE) will work collaboratively with those processes and also support you in meeting CSUF and International Education and Engagement (IEE) requirements. (We recommend contacting your Chair or Dean's Office about any internal college approval and administrative processes which may also apply, in addition to the required university process coordinated by our office.)

Please find an overview and related materials below to help you get started in your program leader journey.

Program Coordination Phases

Program Proposal Deadline

Program Proposal Decision Notification

Your program proposal will be reviewed by the authorized approvers in your department (and dean's office, for faculty). Based on their recommendations, SAGE will update the status of your proposal in the SAGE portal and notify you by this date.

Program Details Must Be Finalized

Ahead of the fall semester program recruitment push, SAGE will work with program leaders and their departments to identify vendor partners, define program itinerary of activities, create and finalize the program budget, build the program brochure and application, and initiate the program agreement process by this deadline.  Failure to meet this deadline may result in program cancellation*

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit!

Program leaders, whose programs meet their enrollment targets, recruit early and often- often at least 2 semesters before the program dates.

Programs that do not meet enrollment targets by the stated deadline may be cancelled, due to funding challenges.

Pre-Departure Tasks and Preparation

Program leaders and students complete required predeparture tasks and trainings.  SAGE and program leaders conduct their respective pre-departure class meetings.   Campus departments, and SAGE complete required tasks related to finalizing program agreements, course scheduling, student enrollment, travel authorization, vendor registration, program payments, international insurance requests... and much more.

REMEMBER TO BEGIN YOUR PROGRAM PROPOSAL FOR NEXT YEAR!

Program Travel

REMEMBER TO SUBMIT YOUR PROGRAM PROPOSAL FOR NEXT YEAR!

Re-Entry

SAGE, program leaders, and departments complete post-program tasks.  Students complete SAGE Program survey.  Program leaders continue planning for the next program.
