A: There are 6 levels in ALP and you are required to pass the intermediate level to begin university. For more information on courses, levels, and electives, please visit the Academic English Program page.
A: No, all documents submitted become school property and cannot be returned. However, Cal State Fullerton accepts certified copies of original documents. You can request your school or education system to stamp a copy of your original transcript and put it in a sealed envelope.
A: No, you will be placed into the appropriate ALP level after a placement exam (upon arrival). The minimum amount of time to complete one level is one semester. Completion of one semester at the Intermediate Level or higher is required.
A: Yes, however you will need to apply for direct admission within the posted application deadlines. Your Conditional Admission application would then be withdrawn.
A: It depends on how long you will take to meet the conditions listed on your conditional admission letter. The average student takes two semesters.
A: Make an appointment with Conditional Admission Advisor Kasie Quiroz, and she will help you complete your conditional application.
A: You may be eligible to take one or two University courses through Open University once you are in the Advanced Level of ALP. To determine your eligibility you will need to meet with an advisor.
A: If you are interested in Conditional Admission, please keep in mind the start dates for the Academic English Program. Deadlines to apply are listed on the conditional admission website. If you already attend the American Language Program, you can apply for Conditional Admission at any time throughout the year.
A: The I-20 will be processed within 3-5 business days of the admission decision. Please note that the I-20 can only be issued once a decision is made.
A: Your Conditional Admission is valid from the time you enroll in the American Language Program until you have met your conditions to start university.
A: The level of education will list: “Language Training.” Under the comments on the I-20 form it will show that the student is “conditionally admitted” with the degree and major listed.
A: Yes, the American Language Program offers the TOEFL five times a year: two exam dates in the Spring semester, two in the Fall semester, and one during the Summer.
A: Yes, the American Language Program offers the IELTS exam.
A: We advise that you contact the program advisor to plan your academic course schedule and to determine if you are permitted to take pre-requisite courses once enrolled into the program.
A: Yes, all international students who have completed high school/secondary school abroad will need to have completed at least three years of Math and at least two years of laboratory sciences (including one year of Biology) with a passing grade of “C” or higher.
