New International Degree-Seeking Students

The checklist below is for new international students who will begin their first semester at Cal State Fullerton: freshmen, transferring undergraduate students, graduate students, credential or certificate program students. Bookmark this page and visit often to successfully prepare for your first semester at CSUF.

Pre-Semester Start Checklist

All admitted international students must accept the admission offer and pay the $250 enrollment administrative charge. For deadlines and instructions on how to accept your admission and pay the charge, visit the Office of Admissions.

The charge will be applied to your first semester registration fees. If you do not accept your admission offer, it is assumed that you will not be attending CSUF. Your space will be made available to another student. There is no deferment of admission. You will need to reapply for a future term if you are unable to enroll in your first semester.

You will need your CWID (Campus-Wide ID number or CSUF ID) and PIN to access your CSUF Student Portal and CSUF email account.  Please refer to the guides and online videos found here.

If you need technical assistance, contact the StudentITHelpDesk@fullerton.edu.

Go to the Form I-20 page for more details.

Visit the Visa – Admitted & Abroad page for more details.

All new CSUF international freshmen and transferring undergraduate students must complete Titan Orientation. Contact orientation@fullerton.edu for any questions regarding orientation.

All new CSUF international graduate and postbaccalaureate students need to check with their departments or college regarding orientation activities, if any.

All new international students are required to complete the ISS Online Immigration Module before they begin their first semester. To complete the module, enroll in the module in Canvas and complete the following:

  • View the Immigration Overview video and audio presentation
  • Take the Immigration Quiz and earn a score of 80% or above
  • Read and submit the International Student Agreement

An ISS Hold on your student account will prevent you from registering for classes until you have completed all the requirements of the module. Once completed, please allow 3-5 business days to remove the ISS Hold from your student account.

All F-1 and J-1 international students are required to purchase the CSUF International Student Insurance plan administered by JCB Insurance Solutions before registering for classes. Visit our health insurance page to purchase and learn more.

  • Submit official transcripts directly to the CSUF Office of Admissions (do not send to ISS).
  • Satisfy minimum immunization requirements. If you have questions about the immunization requirements, please send the following email to CSUF Student Wellness at studentwellness@fullerton.edu.
    • "Hello, I am an incoming student for (specify: Fall or Spring) semester and have questions regarding the immunization requirements. Please advise." Please sign letter with you full name and CSUF ID at the end of the email.

Required Reporting to School:

You must complete the required Virtual Check-in and attend the International Titans Orientation.  Additionally, new CSUF international first-year and transferring undergraduate students must complete Titan Orientation. International graduate and postbaccalaureate students (includes Certificate programs) should check with their respective departments and/or college for additional orientation activities. Failure to do your required reporting to California State University Fullerton can negatively impact your F-1 or J-1 status.

    • Fall 2024: Friday, August 23, 2024
